Preparing for Your Future

Preparando Para Su Futuro Classes

Four times a year UCOM offers a comprehensive, ten hour (4 or 5 week) course in basic financial management.  The course is offered in either English or Spanish. Topics include building a healthy relationship with money, budgeting, eliminating debt, credit, banking and finding community resources.  The classes typically meet one evening per week and attendees who complete the course receive a certificate of completion. For upcoming course dates, be sure to check out the UCOM calendar.

For more specific information about the course, check out the brochures in either English or Spanish.

Introduction to Personal Finance Workshops

New in 2018! Monthly workshops are available throughout Kent County.  These workshops are open to the public, hosted by various Employment Services Collaborative (ESC) partners.  The workshops are held on Wednesday mornings, 9 am – 12 pm and cover basic budgeting and credit management. They are designed to be a refresher course or an introduction to participants who are serious about becoming financially healthy.

Holidays on a Budget Workshop

The holidays can add additional financial stress if there is no plan in place to spend wisely and maximize ‘memory’ over ‘material’. This two-hour workshop is available to book in October or November.  If your business or organization is interested in hosting the workshop, please contact UCOM’s Program Director, Shawn Keener at 616-241-4006 X 23 / shawn.keener@ucomgr.org.
